When the craziness of everything and everyone gets to me; this is where I go. It's along highway 2 in Manistique.
I always find myself feeling peaceful no matter how crazy things get and by the time I leave, I am ready to take on the crazy people again.

For those who think I am kidding when I say I live in the middle of nowhere, here is a picture from my back window.

No, I don't actually live in Paradise but I live about 30 miles or so away. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a beautiful place in the summer. Between the Lake Michigan and Lake Superior we have some amazing scenery. Just a quick note, if you want to go swimming, stick to Lake Michigan as Lake Superior never, ever gets warm.
So, what is a born and bred city girl doing in the backwoods of the U.P. with a bear that I am told likes to hang out in the backyard? I am hiding from my psycho in-laws! Well, actually most of them live up here but one of the great things about being up here means they have to know where to look to find me and I aint tellin'!
For those of you who haven't visited Michigan's U.P. here is the first sight you will see upon leaving lower Michigan and folks this is just a taste of what we have in here.
So, jump on board and join me for my adventures and most certainly at least a few trips that will have me totally lost in the U.P.

This is the Mackinac Bridge. Look scary? That's OK, stop by the visitor center and tell them you need someone to drive you across the bridge. This is a free service.

It takes so little to excite me these days. I had to go to Wal-Mart today and along the way I saw a garage sale. Given I have no furniture unless you count an air mattress and a canvas chair as furniture and very little in household items, I decided to stop and see what they had.
Well, the $25.00 couch was great but I have no way to haul it so I settled for an end table to hold my computer monitor and keyboard and this lovely find.

It needs to be refinished but I love the character in this thing. Now, I just need a couch, coffee table, a chair or two maybe and oh yeah a bed LOL! So, I'm not living large but I am living on my own terms and you know what? That feels pretty darned good!

This certainly wasn't how I intended to begin this blog but since it has come up in ways I wish could be taken back; I feel the need to get up on my soapbox.
One person I know is in the hospital and my brother in law is attending his newphews funeral this week because of idiots who don't watch out for and give the same rights to those on motorcycles. These were two accidents in two different states on the same day: They are just the tip of the iceberg for that day.
To those of you who drive carelessly, recklessly and don't give motorcycles the same consideration you would give a Tonka Truck in the middle of the road, get over it! Those who get on those bikes are like the rest of us: They pay for their vehicle, they pay their taxes, worry about thier kids (yes, they have families that need and love them) and they pay for the right to be on the road with their motorcycle. Give them a cause and they show up to do everything they can; often that is more than the rest of us do. SLOW DOWN and consider the human beings you are putting at risk.
To those who are bike riders out there: Please be safe.

A young woman that I worked with when I first arrived here is in dire need of prayers.
Chloe was in a horrible motorcycle accident and is currently in the hospital in an induced coma. They did this to keep her alive. I don't have all the details but please pray for her.
Coming here as an outsider with in-laws that have tried to sabotage me at every turn has been a battle. Chloe didn't know me very well, but she was kind to me for no reason but that it's her nature.
Very few people have been kind to me without an agenda lately and for that reason while we don't know one another very well she does hold a dear place in heart.
